The period between Beijing 2008 and London 2012 was a
time of exponential growth in the uptake of smartphones
and handheld devices. “In Beijing 2008 the iPad hadn’t
even been launched,” Mark Hughes, CEO of BT Security points
out. “The way of accessing information in 2012 was fundamentally
quite different to previous Games.”
New seating developments have moved away from different colours or
shapes to something less visible but equally important – the material from
which the seat is made.
Until recently, most stadium seat manufacturers have
focused primarily on balancing fans’ expectations of
comfort with venue operators’ demands for durability
and affordability. But as stadium managers become more
environmentally aware, and as the price of oil rises inexorably,
manufacturers have started to look at alternative materials from
which to make their seats.
