Darren Whitehouse

Position: Head of Strategy and Partnerships, Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA)

Darren Whitehouse has been at Sports Grounds Safety Authority since 2017, having previously spent eleven years with the UK Health and Safety Executive.

As Head of Strategy and Partnerships, he has ownership of the delivery of SGSA’s strategy and is also responsible for the development and growth of SGSA’s advisory and training services across all sports, both in the UK and internationally, to ensure SGSA is seen as the safety partner of choice for host cities and major events.

He leads on the development and delivery of SGSA training programmes to ensure safety at major events across multiple sports, including most recently the Singapore F1,  Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) and the forthcoming FIFA Beach Football World Cup in Paraguay.

He is also responsible for the management of strategic partnerships across SGSA stakeholders including government departments, England and Wales Cricket Board, FIFA, the Confedération Africaine du Football (CAF) and INTERPOL.
