Lynn Forney Young, a native Texan, has been an active member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for decades, recently serving as President General . The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education and patriotism across the United States. As one of the most inclusive genealogical societies in the country, DAR boasts 190,000 members in almost 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally, all descended from men and women who achieved America’s independence from England.
Lynn serves on the United States Semiquincentennial Commission, better known as America 250, as one of 16 private citizens, along with eight members of Congress. The Congressional Commission is charged with planning the 250th anniversary celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
